This course will discuss the instruments used in functional visual assessment, explain the limitations of visual assessment techniques, and describe how to aid the ophthalmologist in visual evaluation of cataract/refractive surgery patients.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

• Describe how the keratometer works.
  
• List the indications and uses of the keratometer.
  
• Briefly compare the basic types of keratometers.
  
• List the step-by-step approach in taking accurate 'K' readings.
  
• Outline the interpretation of 'K' readings.
