This course is designed to assist ophthalmic medical personnel in understanding the various types of refractive surgery being employed by refractive surgeons today. In addition, the course discusses proper patient selection and the instrumentation used by physicians and technicians during the examination process.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

• Discuss the history of refractive surgery.
• Describe the refractive errors of the eye.
• Describe the various modern refractive surgical approaches for vision correction.
• Describe patient selection.
• Discuss instrumentation, and common pre-op and post-op protocols.
