 Surgical Management of Annophthalmos / Microphthalmos  - OS101

Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of anophthalmos/microphthalmos.
This course will explore the differences between congenital, early-acquired, and adult anophthalmia and microphthalmia.  Occurrence rate, clinical and surgical management, complications, and patient issues will be discussed.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Identify the clinical findings associated with microphthalmos.
  • Explain how to evaluate a patient with microphthalmos.
  • Describe surgical options available for these patients.
  • Understand the goals of surgical intervention in patients with microphthalmos.
