 Documenting a Patient's Ocular History - OK105

This course is designed to assist ophthalmic medical personnel in developing the skills related to taking a patient history. Although many clinical staff persons are quite familiar with the task of taking a patient history, this module examines and takes a closer look at the components of taking both the comprehensive and interval histories.

Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:

  • Discuss the importance and the various components of the Chief Complaint
  • Describe methods of eliciting the History of Present Illness from a patient.
  • Discuss ways of documenting ocular and systemic medications.
  • Be able to discuss the approach to addressing the Review of Symptoms.
  • Describe the methods of eliciting the patient’s past medical, family, and current social histories (PFSH).
